The Insanity of the Gun Culture

The male brain does not reach complete development until the approximate age of 25.Adolescent impulsivity is a scientifically proven phenomenon. It is more than a coincidence that the shootings at Sandy Hook, Parkland, Columbine and others were carried out by male adolescents or young adults all under the age of 24. If this is a proven fact, why do we allow the sale of assault rifles to 18 year old males with no background check or any meaningful form of vetting for mental stability. In what universe is this considered to be a good idea? Answer: the one in which we live. The murderer in Uvalde could not have legally bought a six pack of beer in Texas, but he was able to legally buy assault rifles and ammunition. He could have also joined the military, where he would have been given a license to kill on behalf of his country during a time of war. It is difficult to retain one's sanity in the insane world the gun lobby has helped create.
