The Effectiveness of EMDR for Sexual Trauma

I have discovered that often the only truly effective treatment for sexual and emotional abuse is EMDR. Shame, guilt and low self worth are often debilitating emotions resulting from sexual and emotional abuse. There is often cognitive dissonance between what a person logically and rationally knows to be true and how they feel. Victims of sexual and emotional abuse often feel that somehow they may have caused the abuse to happen when in fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Once thoughts and feelings align with the truth, the transformation is remarkable.

I have come to respect and appreciate the efficacy of EMDR, as have many of my clients. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and have incorporated EMDR as an integral part of my practice.
